35km Walk on the Cards

Most people who’ve been diligently following my blog should know by now that part of my Camino goal is to bring awareness to Mental Health problems. Additionally, avid students of the Walking with Strangers blog will also know that I haven’t walked any distances longer than 24km thus far.

Why is any of this important? Well if you’ve checked out my intended Camino Walking Stages page you may notice that of the 31 stages I intend to walk there are at least 17 of those that are over 24km long and three stages that are over 30km long. Whaaaatt? Is it too late to cancel this Camino craziness? Yes, yes it is. Lol.

Anyway, I like to test myself so, although not my specific fundraising cause, I’ve signed up for The Bloody Long Walk which is raising funds to stand up and support people living with mitochondrial disease. There are many “Bloody Long Walks” across Australia and I’m hitting the Sydney North event scheduled for the 31st July. 35km in length, it will be a good test of walking that kind of distance in a single day with my appropriately weighted pack on back. Apparently it’s 46200 steps – can’t wait.

So as much as I’d love for you to help me reach my Black Dog Institute fundraising goal of $5000, if supporting people living with Mitocondrial disease is closer to your heart, then show your support and help me reach my side-goal of $350 for that worthy cause. Even if I can raise $25 you’ll earn me a cap for my efforts.

Oh, and thanks Cindy for finding and reminding me about this local walking opportunity.
