RAAF Base Richmond Loop (8km)

Notes:
Ahh, the memories. The last time I walked a single lap of the base track I was clocking up training kilometer number 152. And although I hadn’t intended on doing any further training on asphalt before leaving in just under five weeks time, this afternoon the team at work wanted to get out and enjoy some exercise and sunshine (while we had it).

Of course I couldn’t help but agree and threw my pack on back and joined them to eventually rack up my 473rd kilometer in training.

It was lovely weather, none of us sustained any injuries, and we all enjoyed the natter while stepping away from our desks for a little over an hour.

I’m fortunate enough to work within a team where exercise is not only supported, but encouraged (and at times, mandatory). And where the importance of taking breaks while you can is embraced, as it gives us the opportunity to clear our minds, reset our thoughts and continue to maintain both our physical and mental fitness for the work ahead.

I encourage everyone to step away from the desk every now and then, take a deep breath, and reset your mind, body and soul. I guarantee you’ll feel better for it.
