A little over a month has past since my last update and I’m extremely happy to report that we are 60% towards my fundraising goal of $5000. Once again I’ve received a few more donations to the Black Dog Institute from some awesome people.
And deservingly so, I’d like to give a shout out to those generous supporters. As usual you can see them all on my Heroes & Heroines page but for those anti-clickers… I’d like to formally thank Judy McKane, Bec Green, Elaine Harland, Emma, Starr, Marilyn Bloxsom, Simon Hornsby, Angelique Rauschenbach, Wallace Family, Jeff Bloxsom, Corinne in Texas, David Casey, Christian James Krahenbuhl, Dianne Johnstone, Darrin Robinson, Leo VanDiemen, Quek and a generous Anonymous supporter. Together we’ve raised $3080 for the Black Dog Institute and the research, education and support they provide to those struggling with mental health problems.
My goal is $5000 and I don’t feel that’s unrealistic to achieve. Just like all 800km of the Camino-Frances, it will be achieved one step at a time. Likewise, every $5 donated will get us to that goal of $5000. So let’s keep it going.
Some other notable achievements made since my last update:
- Walked a further 21km (total 486km) with my pack in training
- Established KAVaoke and created five videos so far (keep those requests coming but you may have to wait until I’m back in Oz before I can produce them now)
- “It’s My Life” – Bon Jovi for Elaine Harland
- “I’m On My Way” – The Proclaimers for Emma
- “Lullaby” – Nickelback for Angelique Rauschenbach
- “Californication” – Red Hot Chili Peppers for Jeff Bloxsom
- “Soul to Squeeze” – Red Hot Chili Peppers for Leo VanDiemen
- Posted eight more blog entries (total 85)
Some things in the pipeline or at least on the wishlist:
- Catching an Uber and then a couple of trains
- Catching a big plane and then a smaller plane
- Catching a fast train and then a slower train
- Catching some zzzz’s
- Walking over the Pyrenees Mountain Range <= insert adventure here
So this is where the rubber meets the road my friends… I don’t have all the answers… I don’t know how this will play out, but it should be fun anyway. I have a plan (let’s call it a rough guide) and we’ll take each day as it comes.
My intent is to record (photos / video) the entire 800km but my access to the internet is still an unknown variable. So if it goes dark for a few days or I temporarily miss a day here and there, don’t fret, I’ve probably run out of battery juice or I’m trying to buy a Telco SIM or something.
Anyway, at this point if you want to play along, follow along, or come along for the virtual ride, why not subscribe to this blog and receive an update notification as soon as the post hits the cloud. How? Well look for this
at the top right of most pages, enter your email address or a temp one you create on gmail or whatever, and then smash that Subscribe button. You won’t be sorry (I can’t guarantee that).
As mentioned on each of these updates, the goal is still to get the word out there. So if you want to help me in that regard, feel free to SHARE my blog on your own Socials so I can reach as many people as possible with my Mental Health Awareness message.
